external image Leonardo%20by%20himself.jpgHi, I’m Jamie Alexis da Vinci, the sister of Leonardo da Vinci.

Leonardo da Vinci was born in the town of Vinci in Italy. He was a painter, draftsman, sculptor, architect and engineer whose inventions were revolutionary for his day. He lived from 1452 till 1519 and created some inventions that are still being used today (just with slightly improved design). Some of his artworks are renowned the world round and are still famous even 500 years later. Some of his more famous artworks include the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. I am going to tell you about his life and his works.

My brother was born in the village of Anchiano in 1452. This town is near the town of Vinci, hence me and my brothers name ‘da Vinci’. Even from a young age I could tell that he was going to grow up to be one of the most important people ever to live. This was seconded by the Painters’ guild of Florence when he was accepted in to their group at the age of 20.
Four years later my brother was charged with sodomy. He, along with his family, were publicly humiliated until the charges were dropped.
Leonardo then became a very famous painter. His paintings ‘The Last Supper’external image Leonardo_da_Vinci_(1452-1519)_-_The_Last_Supper_(1495-1498).jpg, ‘Mona Lisa’external image mona-lisa.jpg and ‘St John the Baptist’ external image St-John-the-Baptist-1513-16.jpgbrought our family fame. He later became an inventor and he invented over 400 different inventions. Most of them were war machines or flying devices.
Throughout his life, Leonardo da Vinci travelled to many locations. His travelling journey was: Anchiano, Florence, Milan, Venice, and Florence before the king of France invited him to France and there he stayed until he died in 1519.

His latter years were hard work for him. From 1513 to 1516 he stayed in Rome while his rivals, Michelangelo and Raphael, where hard at work. When he finally died the shock was too great to write down. He was buried in the church of Saint Florentin. I sincerely hope that his legendary inventions and artworks will still be admired today.

Your Sincerely

Jamie Alexis da Vinci
